When I first started Metalocalypse, I wasn't really crazy about it. It felt too similar to other violence-ridden [as] shows to really mean much- a Superjail type, y'know? Metalocalypse quickly falls into its own, forming an identity- an identity covered in blood and spikes... ew!
In a double condemnation of myself... I don't really like metal all that much. I mean- I like Black Sabbath. And I like Dethklok and Cannibal Corpse. I thought the video game Brutal Legend was pretty good, and I like the soundtrack (my favorite track is "Am I Evil?"). In terms of death metal especially though... I'm probably flying blinder than most Metalocalypse fans. Oops.
I'm giving less description for the series for two reasons-- this is a TV show, obvi, so there's less to describe. Secondly... unlike my Midnight Cowboy shrine... there are a good chunk of Metalocalypse fans out there in comparison. Anyways. I'm just gonna put a nice cute pic of each character and talk about them. That's it!! Also srry I'm going to write SOOOOO MUCH about Murderface. ily Willy Murdy.
Skwisgaar... where do you start with Skwisgaar? He likes his guitar. He likes women. . . and men? Maybe not canonically. But I THINK OTHERWISE! We gotta be honest with ourselves. Skwisgaar is the guitarist of the band, and it shows (he's annoying)! He's Swedish... and he's also sorta a god hehe! Side note- I love Toki and Pickles beating up Murderface. Good 4 them.
Skwisgaar is a bit into himself, but most of Dethklok is. I mean, if you were the fastest guitarist in the world, wouldn't you think you were pretty wicked? Skwisgaar cares about his band family, of course, but he's a sullen guy about it.
TOKI MY BABY! Toki headcanons GO ! uh. I don't really have many. He's autistic? But they all are. Good lord! Uhm. That's it. oops! Toki is the Norwegian rhythm guitarist of Dethklok. He's the youngest of them and it shows! He likes neat stuff, like coloring, My Little Disemboweled Pony, and kitties!. He's overshadowed by Skwisgaar, who is a bit of a meanie to him >:(
Toki's past before the band is :( . He grew up in an abusive religious household. enduring emotional and physical torment from his parents. Dethklok was really the first family he had (and the first band he was in). Be careful, though! Toki can be just as brutal as everyone else.
LOCAL REPRESSED BASSIST CONFRONTS RUMORS IN NEWLY RELEASED SONG. TITLE? "HAMBURGER TIME". Some people think Murderface can't finish his constantly talked about project Planet Piss. They're right, tbh. But he did make that amazing hit "Takin' it Easy! (I really love this sick cover of the track. I wish it had something like Toki's whiny background vocals but! It's really good :) )
Murderface haters can uhm. I'm not gonna threaten anyone. But you make me sad! Murderface is amazing and I love him!!! I think some people don't like him because he's probably the most outwardly selfish of the group. Here's a quote from the Adult Swim website. It's a good few years old, but it's important to know that "no one in the world is full of more hatred than [Murderface]. And he hates no one more than he hates himself." He's sad in the same way that everyone else in Dethklok is. He's just more vile, too.
Pickles the drummer comes out as transgender. LGBTQ acceptance skyrockets as Dethklok fans sacrifice bigots to the band. more at 10. Pickles is the resident mommy of the group (his words, not mine). He's a major alcoholic, as is all of the group. Pickles... seems to have it the worst though. His drinking problem stems from his rocky relationship with his brother. It certainly wasn't helped by his sucky dad (who Pickles claims he doesn't know the name of) OR his less-than-empathetic mother.
Pickles is generally interpretated as the oldest of the group, and though some of the others were in bands before Dethklok, it is Pickles's former band, Snakes 'N Barrels, that gets the most detail in the show. That's right. Pickles? He's a former glam girlie. Admittedly. It's glam metal. So. It's kind of embarrassing. I'm MORE of british glam rock person, but he came too late onto the scene (and onto the wrong continent). Pickles hails from the wonderful... Wisconsin!
Nathan's parents love him, which makes him the odd-man-out. He also suffers from, uhm. Visions of a Whale Prophet. Pretty sick, imo. I love NATHAN!! He's the dad of the group, as opposed to Pickles. Being mommy or daddy doesn't make a person really competent, though. While I'd say Nathan is sort of the rock of the group, he certainly has his moments of being a selfish guy (the video is censored. I hate that!!! Apologies!!) He's autistic. That's not canon, but he started talking when he was five. So!! Nathan is marked for... spoilery stuff. His development thru the show is wicked. We see him pass from a guy rejecting his family and his fans, to someone ready to embrace it all. That goes for all of the band, of course. Nathan really shines, though.
