Star Trek: Standby (lovingly called STSB if you're wanting to get rid of those pesky extra characters) is a canon-light Star Trek fan thingie. I call it "canon light" mostly because Star Trek lore is HUGE!!! It spans so many episodes and books and movies and comics and-- *deep breath*-- other stuff. Star Trek is a lot. And it can be a bit intimidating to get into! So here's a Star Trek that I'm trying to have meet in the middle. STSB is pretty obviously made by a fan, but not a fan that's trying to push you into a 50-year-long injoke.

That being said-- I think you SHOULD join the injoke. Peer pressure and all that.

Why do this?

OBVIOUSLY, its FUN. It gives me the opportunity to learn more about the series, and work on a creative thingie at the same time!! It also gives me the ability to do stuff I'd like to see in the series, I guess (I get to make as many time travel episodes as I want!!! AHAHHAHAHA!!! Those are my FAVORITE). What else? I get to look more into 70's sci-fi, as this is my main inspo for the series outside of the established franchise. Side note-- I LOVE 70s sci-fi and need to watch more. My favorite film from the era is probably Logan's Run- at least visually. Westworld and its sequel, Futureworld, are also good, too.
